The first official partner of our Giving Deeper program, and why we could not be prouder to start here.

When we built 1Below, we made a promise before we sold a single thing: 5% of every order goes back to the mountains. Not someday. Not once we are big enough. From the first order, on every order, always.

Today we are proud to tell you where some of that 5% is going.

Who they are

SOS Outreach is a youth development nonprofit that uses skiing, snowboarding, and the outdoors to change kids' lives. They pair young people with adult mentors and put them on snow, many for the first time. The mountain becomes the classroom. Kids who might never have clicked into a binding learn courage, discipline, and what it feels like to stand on top of something hard and ride down the other side.

That is not a metaphor to us. Deeper connection to the mountains is the whole reason 1Below exists. SOS Outreach builds that connection for kids who would not otherwise get the chance, and they have been doing it for decades, one season and one mentor at a time.

How it works

Every order at 1below.com includes a choice at checkout. You pick the mountain cause your 5% supports: avalanche safety, backcountry rescue, youth access, public lands, or climate advocacy. Choose youth access, and your order supports the work SOS Outreach does on the hill.

No selection? Your 5% splits evenly across all five causes, so every order gives no matter what.

We remit quarterly, with order-level statements behind every check.

Why we started here

Because getting kids on snow is where mountain culture either continues or ends. Lift tickets, equipment, transportation, and time add up fast, and the mountains slowly become a place for fewer and fewer people. Organizations like SOS Outreach push back on that, and we want to push with them.

We are a young brand. Our checks will start small. But small checks written every quarter, backed by real orders from real people, grow into something. That is the bet we are making together.
